If you’re looking for a friendly and supportive group of professional peers, this is the group for you. As a chapter of Editors Canada, Editors Hamilton-Halton offers local members opportunities for professional development, networking, and socializing. In an effort to accommodate a variety of schedules and geographic locations, we try to plan a hybrid delivery of events. Meetups generally alternate between in-person and virtual delivery.

Our 2026/2027 events

Our Blue Pencil volunteer program is a great way to gain editing experience. Throughout the year, we partner with gritLIT, Hamilton’s literary festival, to run Blue Pencil sessions. Volunteer editors are paired with local writers who are seeking editorial feedback. Editors assess up to 2,500 words of fiction or memoir, provide a brief written report, and join the author for a one-time, 60-minute consultation.

The program is a great way to gain valuable editing experience, hone your author relationship skills, and get to know the challenges writers face as they develop their pieces. If you’re interested in volunteering your editing skills, send us an email!

Virtual meetups are where we meet our peers, hold supportive discussions and invite interesting speakers from the world of editing. Join us on Zoom on the 3rd Thursday of the month, from September to June.

In-person events: we love to meet in person for social and professional events. Watch this space for more details.
